The Institute for the Economy in Transition /IET/ is an independent non-commercial research organization, founded in 1990. Among the institutional founders of the IET are the Academy for the National Economy under the Government of the Russian Federation, the CASE /Center for Socio-Economic Studies/ (Warsaw, Poland), and the OFCE /French Institute for Economic Situation Studies/ (Paris, France). The Institute conducts both theoretical and applied studies in the field of economics, consults the agencies of state power of the Russian Federation on issues concerning the problems of economic growth in economies in transition, public finance, monetary and currency exchange policies, privatization policies, corporate finances, restructuring and institutional reform. The IET’s politico-economic studies have earned high-rate estimation by various government agencies. The Institute has been developing its own standpoints in all these areas of research, which it actively promotes. The Institute is implementing various projects for the World Bank, the IMF, and the OECD, and provides consulting services to Russian biggest private companies.
